On the occasion of International Children's Day, China Global Philanthropy Institute is pleased to announce that we have formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement with UNICEF, the world's largest UN agency responsible for providing humanitarian and development assistance to children worldwide. The agreement establishes an innovative partnership aimed at jointly deepening the protection and well-being of children’s rights, promoting global sustainable development, and making differences to a better tomorrow for mankind.
UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly and has worked for more than 75 years to improve children's lives, defend their rights and help them reach their full potential.
President of China Global Philanthropy Institute, Yan Jun said, "The signing of this cooperation agreement is not only a strategic alliance, but also a starting point for the two parties to jointly explore innovative ways to improve lives of children in China. Children are the future of human development, and they are also vulnerable groups that need to be cared. Paying attention to children's public welfare is not only for children themselves, but also for sowing the seeds of hope of the realization of sustainable development." The alumni of CGPI possess enormous capability, of which 40% have business background. They come from 31 provinces and Hong Kong area, as well as 20 countries and regions worldwide, gathering in the institute to get deeper involved in solving social problems and create values both economically and socially. They are supposed to play the key role to better solve children's problems.
A sound family, social and learning environment for children to grow up healthily and happily is a common goal of all. In the future, a learning and exchange mechanism for students and alumni of CGPI with a focus on children is to be established by the two parties. It is supported by the research collection in the field of philanthropy and the "Shen Yi Jia" alumni platform of CGPI, along with plentiful program experience of UNICEF. Meanwhile, CGPI and UNICEF China office will carry out in-depth cooperation in case studies, policy research, program exchanges, and event organizing.
