SHENZHEN – On June 28, 2026, on the sidelines of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC), the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship led a delegation of over 30 global social innovators and foundation leaders to the Shenzhen International Foundation for Philanthropy (CGPI). The deep-dive session, themed “The Key Role of Institutions in Scaling Innovation,” explored how infrastructure supports social impact. CGPI Dean Chen Huanshan highlighted the institute’s role as a “talent incubator,” citing the “Xihan’er Car Wash Center”—now 70+ locations nationwide—as a model for disability inclusion. Representatives from Sany Foundation, the China Social Enterprise Forum, and Tencent SSV shared insights on evidence-based philanthropy and tech-enabled social value. In closing, Sophia, Head of the Schwab Foundation’s social entrepreneurship project, praised CGPI’s ecosystem approach. Using the metaphor of a folding fan gifted by the college—“unassuming when folded, yet expansive when open”—she emphasized the balance between operational focus and long-term vision. Participants agreed that flexible definitions and compelling storytelling are vital for scaling solutions, pledging deeper collaboration for global impact.
