Social Value Investment Analysis and Application
Social Impact Investment (or called social value investment) is an emerging asset class. According to Ronald Cohen, “Father of Venture Capital” in Europe, Social Impact Investment maybe is “one of the most powerful innovations emerging in the area since the introduction of preferential tax policy into philanthropy.”
It is estimated that the amount of funds incorporated into social investment reaches up to 10.6 billion USD from a globally macro perspective. In the next decade, social investment market will grow to 1,000 billion USD. Unlike traditional public welfare ethics and business logic, Social Impact Investment is in between those two. It is characteristic of allowing investors to obtain return on investment to a certain degree while they use the investments to serve society, solve social problems, and produce sustainable social values, instead of donating funds.
In 2016, as the first alliance named after “social value” in China, China Alliance of Social Value Investment made its full debut. This time, we have invited Ms. Bai Hong, Secretary General of China Alliance of Social Value Investment, to share with us how social value investment realizes longitudinal cross-border integration of profits and non-profits and transverse cross-border integration of society and hierarchy, and also discuss the possibility of using them in China.
