Operate Philanthropy Skillfully: How to Enhance "Story Effect" of Philanthropy

Philanthropy shall also need to "say stories." No matter you are to raise funds for the institution you work for or beat the drum for the projects you support, your philanthropy products are more appealing through the form of telling stories to the public for promoting philanthropy projects.

For crowd funding, it includes transboundary to varying degrees so that it is a process of multilateral cooperation. A successful crowd funding not only requires to be participated in by philanthropy organizations, but also need technical personnel from all walks of life. In this process, to become a crowd founding project which can attract the public, whether this crowd founding project has stories is an important factor. The crowd founding project can be more easily be agreed and accepted by the public if it can be promoted to the public through the form of telling stories.

Philanthropy project can serve as a valuable product and whether this story can be told well will affect the effective delivery of value. It not only embodies soft power of the organization, but also is an important factor for enhancing leadership. What abilities does an action leading social innovation need to have? How to gather counterparts? Come and join us, be a social innovation leader sharing value and emotion and experience how to connect with others with stories.

Storytelling is based on the methodology framework of Public Narration course offered by Kennedy College of Harvard University. It combines with practices and cases in the field of philanthropy in China and communication and story writing skills are also added to so as to make each participant for social innovation more complete and can dig individual potential and find a connection with others to promote social change.


Why tell the story?

Describe the background of the story-telling ability and audience participation, and find out the core motivation for everyone to study.

Where does the story come from?

Analysis the source of the story, and extract the story model in the huge life narratives, and upgrade the special skills based on the model.

How the story brings about effects?

Analyze what need to happen that can make a story brings about great effect during the transferring, and finally reveals the significance of the story.

How can the stories bring about action?

Only actions that are done can bring about stories, feel the functions of stories of value transferring, relating each other and promote innovation in a real action.

Mo Ran, the Former Director of CRI internet radio, is now the Senior PM in Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, the supervisor, painter and curator in “love reading” children reading project as well as the project sponsor of innocent meets with innocent. He started to contact with charity in 2007 from the view of the media, interviewed and reported the philanthropic organizations and projects and cooperated with them, including the International Fund for animal welfare, the World Wildlife Fund, sweet angel Foundation, bear one more kilogram etc. Then participated in and supported some charity activities. Along with the Association for the rehabilitation of children with autism and Innocent studio, they launched a philanthropic project on the Zhongchong network in May, 2014, and have got good social feedback. They launched a project in January 2015 again and successfully raised the funds.
