On February 24, the 9th day of the first lunar month, China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI) welcomed Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein. In the presence of Mr. Elliott Donnelly, Prince Max, President Wang Zhenyao, Chairman of Huamin Charity Foundation Lu Dezhi, Chairman of Dongfangjun Foundation Dong Fangjun, GPL Leader and Founder of Nanjing Xinhuixin Foundation Pan Yi, President of Efang Real Estate Financial Group Shen Jian and other Chinese philanthropists had dinner together, and hold in-depth discussions about the development prospect and future cooperation intention of China Social Finance and Impact Investment.
Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein is the second son of the Liechtenstein monarch Hans Adam II von und zu Liechtenstein. In October 2010, Prince Max succeeded as Chief Executive of the Liechtenstein Global Trust (LGT), a royal family-owned business in Liechtenstein.
Fully owned and operated by the Liechtenstein Royal Family, LGT is the largest private banking and asset management group in Europe with overseas offices in more than 20 regions worldwide and more than 2,000 employees. According to statistics, as of December 31, 2014, the assets under the management of LGT amounted to 128.795 billion Swiss francs (1 Swiss franc is equivalent to about 1.0615 U.S. dollars), of which over 3 billion Swiss francs are royal assets.
In his speech, Prince Max said that for him the meaning of taking over the family business is much more than the inheritance of huge wealth. The meaning lies more in promoting its social values so that it not only becomes a symbol of wealth but also serves as an example of the noble spirit of consciously shouldering social responsibilities. "For over 900 years in the family's heritage history, the care for the weak has always been deeply rooted in the blood of the Liechtenstein royal family."
In his view, there are many ways of doing business, but in either case, the principle of being socially and environmentally responsible should be upheld. "We should give a fair chance to more vulnerable groups and all people should live in dignity and be given a fair chance of personal development."
In 2007, Prince Max proposed the establishment of LGT VPO that would be committed to improving the quality of life of disadvantaged groups in developing countries through venture philanthropy. He is convinced that bringing social benefits through venture philanthropy will take a step forward in the philanthropy of his own family.
Mr. Elliot Donnelly believes that as China's economy develops rapidly and more and more UHNWP begin to consider the issue of wealth management and inheritance, "LGT and its CEO, Prince Max, can play a very important role of a good model, especially for guiding the values of the offspring of wealthy families (Rich Second Generation). "
At the dinner, Prince Max, Chairman of Huamin Charity Foundation Lu Dezhi, Chairman of Dongfangjun Foundation Dong Fangjun, GPL Leader and Founder of Nanjing Xinhuixin Foundation Pan Yi, President of Efang Real Estate Financial Group Shen Jian, Director of Huamin Charity Foundation Yi Silai, and other Chinese philanthropists conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as Capital and Sharing, Venture Philanthropy, Social Impact Investment, Sci-tech and Charity, Arts Helps Rural Rejuvenation and so on in a warm and high atmosphere.
President Wang Zhenyao awarded Prince Max the Certificate of "Charity Master of China Global Philanthropy Institute". He said CGPI has always been committed to building an international cooperation platform and bringing together global charity leaders to jointly explore and respond to the current social problems and challenges by promoting cross-cutting and cross-regional joint actions. "We have a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility. However, only by inspiring more and more people and bringing them together can we achieve the ultimate success."
Prince Max made a strong echo to Wang Zhenyao, and expressed his recognition and appreciation for the trainees represented by GPL leaders, Dong Fangjun and Pan Yi, who work on realizing international development through the platform built by CGPI and play an increasingly important role in the field of charity. Prince Max reached a consensus with Chinese philanthropists and expressed his willingness to cooperate with everyone to launch the United Action of International Venture Philanthropy in China.
