On July 8, 2019, the five-day “East-West Philanthropy Forum- A Good Trip to Italy” concluded successfully, Mr. Niu Gensheng, Co-Chairman of the East-West Philanthropy Forum, Founder and Honorary President of Laoniu Foundation, and Mr. Wang Zhenyao, Secretary General of the East-West Philanthropy Forum, Joint Secretary General of the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum, Dean of the China Global Philanthropy Institute, and Dean of the China Philanthropy Research Institute of Beijing Normal University, led a delegation to visit. The purpose of this visit is to implement the long-term mechanism of the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum signed by the leaders of the two countries in March 2019, and to promote cooperation on practical projects to reach a fruitful consensus on joint action.
At the invitation of Mr. Romano Prodi, former Chairman of the European Commission, former Prime Minister of Italy and Co-Honorary President of the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum, the mission visited philanthropic institutions and families in Turin, Milan and Bologna, Italy. Again, there is agreement on the strategic direction of China-EU international philanthropy cooperation and development in the Belt and Road Initiative, led by the East-West Philanthropy Forum and the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum, and jointly supported by philanthropists from the East and the West.
Among the philanthropists attending the visit were Italian scientist and philanthropist Francisco Berini and his son Carlo Berini, Mr. Huang Guanqiu, father of China Red Chip, and Mr. Wang Zhen, Chairman of Quantum High-tech Health Management Technology Co., Ltd. and Honorary Chairman of China Social Welfare Foundation.
Under the support and arrangement of Professor Ouyang Qiao, Secretary General of the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum, and Dr. Wang Qinghong, Executive Secretary of the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum and Deputy Secretary General of the East-West Philanthropy Forum, the delegation visited the Agnelli family of Italy's “royal family”, the Genia family of the century-old luxury brand, the Sao Paulo Foundation, Italy's largest bank, the European Innovation Centre, and had a private session with Italian and European philanthropists and charitarians, including Mr. Francisco Provmo, former Minister of Education of Italy and Chairman of the Foundation of S ã o Paulo, and Mr. Massimo Lapuchi, Chairman of the European Foundation Centre. During the meeting, the substantive cooperation in the fields of children's education, artificial intelligence, medical pharmacy, impact investing, philanthropy innovation, sustainable development, family inheritance, community building, culture and art were discussed in depth, and the alternative permanent venues of the Sino-Italian Philanthropy Forum and the East-West Philanthropy Forum in Turin were specially inspected.
The "East-West Philanthropy Forum · A Good Trip to Italy" has been well received by the Italian philanthropic community, expanded the international network of philanthropists and philanthropic organizations, and defined the direction and path for charitable demonstration and innovative exchange and cooperation in the international perspective.
