Chokyi Dragpa Rinpoche is the abbot of Sheng Gen Temple in Yajiang County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. He is also known as Azi Living Buddha. From 2007 to 2013, he established several Sheng Gen Bamboo Houses (living or preaching places for monks) around China and supported the renovation of the Sheng Gen Temple. In 2012, he began a graduate program in religion at the Department of Philosophy at Peking University. During his studies, he visited scholars from different religious sects including Chinese, Tibetan, Japanese and Bhutanese, and discussed Christianity and ancient Chinese civilization. Between 2011 and 2013, he gave lectures and preached at many universities and companies. At the same time, he supported the Kangnan Pearl Buddhist Academy to build an audience hall and monk residence. In 2009, he helped construct the Yangjiang nursing home, and the Sheng Gen Peace Hope School, which currently services more than 200 students. In 2014, he founded the One Thousand Monks Bodhi Tree Fund, whose mission it is to train 1000 young leaders in traditional Chinese culture within 10 years. He launched the Kindness and Wisdom Public Foundation in 2015, which aims to cultivate understanding and appreciation for traditional Chinese culture and promote traditional Tibetan medicine.
Since 2014, he has served as the chief training lecturer at Beijing Orient Landscape Ltd., and as board member of the Beijing Qiaonv Public Welfare Foundation.
